The short version

AppScope reads what is installed on your device, works out how much space, cache, permissions and usage each app has, and draws it. All of that happens on the device. No account, no server, no sync, and your list of installed apps is never uploaded anywhere.

What the app reads on your device

The names, package names, versions, install dates, sizes, declared categories and requested permissions of the apps you have installed; and, if you grant usage access, their storage breakdown and Android's usage statistics for them. This information is read when you open the app, held in memory while you use it, and not written to any file we create.

Permissions we ask for, and why

Query all packages: to see the apps the visualisation is made of. Without it Android only reveals a handful of apps and the product does not work.

Usage access: optional, and off until you turn it on in system settings. It unlocks the app/data/cache breakdown and everything time-based — screen time, launch counts, last opened, and the unused filter.

Request delete packages: lets the app open Android's own uninstall dialog for an app you chose. It does not allow the app to remove anything itself — Android still asks you to confirm, and Android does the removing.

Internet: used for one thing only, sending a feedback message you have written and submitted.

Feedback you send us

When you voluntarily submit feedback, a bug report or a feature request through the app, we receive the text you typed, the type of report, your email address if you chose to enter one, the app version, and your device model and Android version. This is stored in a private database (Google Firebase / Cloud Firestore, operated by Google LLC) that only the developer can read, and is used solely to improve the app and, if you gave an email, to reply to you. It is not shared with anyone else and is not used for advertising. You can ask us to delete it at any time through Settings, Send feedback.

What we do not do

We do not collect analytics. We do not show ads. We do not profile you. We do not upload your installed-app list, your usage statistics or your storage figures. There is no advertising identifier, no tracking SDK and no third-party analytics library in this app.

Third-party services

Firebase (Google) — stores voluntarily submitted feedback.
Google Play Core — checks with the Play Store on your device for app updates and, occasionally, shows Play's own review card. Both talk to the Play Store app over on-device messaging; neither receives anything about your apps.

Retention

Feedback is kept until the issue it describes is resolved, or until you ask us to delete it. Everything else lives only on your device and disappears when you uninstall the app.

Children

AppScope is a utility for managing a device and is not directed at children.

Contact

Questions about this policy can be sent through Settings, Send feedback. It reaches the developer with the app version and your device model attached, and you can leave an email address there if you would like a reply.
